Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty also referred to as “labia minora reduction” or “labia reduction”, is a cosmetic procedure for reshaping the labia minora (inner labia). This is not to be confused with labia majora ( outer labia) and the folds of skin in the vulva complex. The vulva appearance varies significantly as related to size, color, and shape

What Is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a surgical vaginal-rejuvenation procedure used to reduce the length or width of the folds of the vagina (labia minora). It is performed to aesthetically improve the appearance of your genital area and to reduce discomfort or congenital concerns.

The changes seen within the vulva might be attributed to:

  • Childbirth
  • Aging
  • Weight fluctuations
  • Congenital
  • Normal variation

Am I an Ideal Candidate for Labiaplasty?

If you are self-conscious about your genitals or are feeling any irritation or discomfort in your vaginal area, you can benefit from this procedure. This surgery addresses the asymmetry of your labia if one is longer than the other.

It is not recommended for patients younger than 18 years of age, as the labia still grow beyond puberty into early adulthood.

Your Labiaplasty Surgery Consultation

Your initial appointment at Femme Next Generation Women’s Care in Thousand Oaks, California, will be the best time to discuss your concerns and expectations. Set realistic goals and let us know what your desired results are. Our physician will perform a physical exam in order to assess the extent of your surgery and recommend a course of treatment.

The Procedure

At Femme, our physicians cautiously approach labiaplasty with a keen aesthetic eye to optimize your result, with the knowledge that this procedure is a delicate one that requires finesse. Labiaplasty is performed in the office setting or outpatient surgery facility using local anesthesia.

The trim procedure involves removing the excess tissue from the outer edges, while the wedge procedure removes a pie-shaped piece of tissue while preserving the natural border. The best option for you will be chosen during your consultation.

In some cases, extra folds on the clitoral hood may also be excised. Finally, absorbable sutures will be used to close the incisions.
